BAG

Materials: thick felt & transparent anti-slip mat

It is summer break and i decided to make more clothes and bags by myself, than buying new. Since i can't seem to find what i actually want in my closet in stores, this girl have to make it herself right?
First project i did was this bag. I was looking a while now for a felt or transparent bag but didn't find the one i liked. I've made this one with the measurements of my Macbook so that everything that i want to bring can fit in.

THE CLAUDIA STRATER DAIRIES

Hi there! Last few days i've been quite busy with this project :
Claudia Strater is a Dutch womenswear fashion brand who asked us (my classmates and i) to make a design from old Claudia Strater clothes to a new silhouette. Costumers had the chance to return their old clothes and got a discount for the new collection instead. Each student had to pick out seven items which they find interesting enough to recreate a new design with. There were no limits and we could do everything we want except using fabric was not allowed, only the items we picked. Interesting! So we've had five days to cut/sew/rip/recreate all to a new one. At Monday, the Claudia Strater design team will pick 5 winners, and their design will be showed at three different shops in Holland. So at this moment, i'm giving my recreation a last finishing touch. I'll show you my recreation later!

About Claudia Strater:
Claudia Strater was build in 1970 and is 100% Dutch design with 28 shops, 13 shop in shops in The Netherlands, Luxemburg and a webshop. Our vision is that fashion must show personality and individual interpretation. Claudia Strater stands for quality, functionality, timeless and elegant, now and in the future.

DIY; PENCASE / CLUTCH / CASE FOR WHATEVER

Since i'm a chaotic person, i've lost every single pencil, pen, scissors ect. that i owned. I thought it would be necessary to make an pen case to hold them all together and never lose anything again. And since the new school year starts about 2 weeks, why not make one now?

I'm going to take you through it step by step so you can make your own!

FINISH LINE

As you can see in the post from yesterday, i finished it! I'm happy with the result how the fabric works as a short BUT it's not the most finest item i've made. The fabric is horrible to sew because it's a coarse woven material, it's almost impossible to lock the seam. Every seam i sew with the lockmachine (i don't know if you called it a lockmachine in English) but every time i did, the whole weave/fabric destroys itself! Luckily i knew how to fix it, so this is what came out.

As you can see i've made one piping pocket (also almost impossible in this fabric) and i've put elastic in the waistband.

On to the next project!

School ; Textiles

Material : basic fabric - beige booklinen (what bookcovers are made of), middle part and behind the bookcover fabric - white silk organza, embroidery - blue yarn.

All about the textiles and materials: a textiles dress inspired on a ornamental aspect. I was searching for an organic something as ornament, so i came up with old books. I used the back and the bookbinding as an inspiration. I wanted to show the fragility what comes with old books, like a touch can do let them fall apart. Also the sort of clean way paper gives as a contrast, and yet still works together.

As technique i used a lasercutter, i drew a sketch based on the cratches on old books and cut them at the right part of the dress. The booklinen i attacked with sand paper for the rough/used effect, then sprayed with stonespray (yes, a spray that makes things looks like stone) an ombre over the whole dress from up to bottom. As for seam under the arms and the back, i've made a bookbinding with silk organza (it takes hours). I'm very pleased with the results, how about you? Share your opinion!

Fabric & Textures

Bottom: Real greenish/white suede by Alexander Wang - white waffle textured cotton - dark minty green batist cotton by Sjaak Hullekes - white mix of cotton/silk - dark minty green cotton thread - white twisted rope

For a school summer assignment i have to make an outfit for myself. I instantly knew what i want to make, clothes i cant seem to find in stores and wanted for a long time. Lately i'm into white and natural colors (still a black kinda girl though), also i prefer fabrics of good quality like silk and leather. With a combination of these two an idea was born.

What do you think about the combination of these fabrics?

Lady of Shalott

Some details shots of my designs for school. Doing a fashion design assignment inspired of the poem "Lady of Shalott". I wanted to have a psychical-i-was-at-a-psytherapist element in the design.
