Last week i went to La Cala de Finestrat in Spain for a quick recover vacation after the end of second semester and the celebrate my 24th birthday (yay!).

Never been in La Cala before, it's near Benidorm and usually i'm not into places where a lot of tourist are staying but this place was a good try. All week i was chilling at the beach, got some tan, drink rose and got a good sleep. Also did a safari trip through the mountains at the end of the week, if you're ever in the south of Spain, i would definitely recommend it. 

Back to normal life now. After a week of ultimate chilling, i'm ready for new things and projects to come!

LISTING

The Five Piece French Wardrobe:
Thought about it quite some time but here it is, the list! (or half of it).

THE List!
1. A long/cosy wool scarf.
2. The ultimate perfect leather jacket.
3. Something Nike ID.
4......
5......

The rest of the list is not there yet. It seems like since i've given myself a amount of pieces which i'm allowed to buy, i've stopped thinking about shopping or buying clothes at all. When studying at an art academy, a person have to make priorities about spending money. For school or whatever. So this thought is really helping!

Conclusion at this stadium: this Five Piece French wardrobe thing is really working!

SORT OF FIVE PIECE FRENCH WARDROBE

Thought about doing a sort of French wardrobe concept in a previous post. Buying less each season and purchase more timeless pieces i'm really missing out there in my closet makes me save money and having a wardrobe what is more combined.
Few years ago, I was like a crazy person running around shops and buying impulsive pieces all the time. They'd end up in charity now. Good for the environment, not for my wallet.
This society is buying more than we need, just because we can. A good start begins with yourself, so this is my beginning.

Some simple rules i have to follow:
- 5 pieces each season, must make a list of which pieces. If i don't, i know myself, i will break the rules.
- Basics and underwear not included. These items are always necessary.
- Only quality. So big no to acrylic/polyester ect... (Did this already).

Some extra's:
- Throw everything out. Items i didn't wore or touched for a year are out.
- Don't do internet shopping. Exception: only with a goal of one of the 5 items.
- Make more items myself instead.

The actual item list is coming up later. Since it's only 5 pieces each season i'll have to think about which one very carefully... (!)

NYE IN ROME

When you're reading this i will probably already be on the plane to one of the most prettiest city in the world!

I'll be spending New Years in Rome with two friends of mine. It's my first time in Rome so if anyone has tips where to shop or eat, i will appreciate it! For so far i'll be making a wish at the Trevi Fountain. You know what they say, "When in Rome"......

BAD HABIT PART I

Since a new year is about to arrive in a few days, i thought it was time to share some bad habits going on in my life. And i think more of you will recognize themselves in this and raise your voice if so (so i don't feel guilty alone).
These days a lot a human are buying more than they need, it's healthy because it's in our genes. Though with a new year to come, i have to let go of this habit myself because i don't really need it.

So here it is: "Bad habit part one":
Shoes i'd thought i needed, but don't need. (i was in denial at the time when buying)

Ah yes, let's begin with this category. The colored shoe is not a shoe i would particularly wear on a daily basis. So every now and then i try and try buying this type of shoe over and over again and every time it will end up in the back of my closet. It's not that i don't like color, but it doesn't fit 'me' that well. I have to stop trying making this dream come true.

"The Impulsive shoe" from Primark
The title says it all. I think we all made this mistake.. The shoe i definitely didn't need and also never wore. Hmm..

"The Party shoe" by Guess
The shoe you-would-wear-to-a-party-if-you-have-one. Yes, they're killing your feet and you'll have to sit down the whole party if you want to survive. Sure pretty and looks perfect with a dress but such a waste of money for only that one time.

"The Vintage shoe" unknown
My favorite! Most of the time when buying vintage shoes, they end up in the closet. Confusing when my most treasured shoes are vintage. This one didn't make the top 10, guess that all happens to one of us.

So another lesson learned for upcoming 2014. Think before acting, it will save me a lot of money (and space)!

Christmas break! And with Christmas and all going on today and tomorrow, i thought it was time to relax and be comfortable before all the craziness begins. Merry Christmas everybody!

S I L E N C E

So this is what they call a "radiosilence"..?

I've been so busy at the academy this semester, so i had to make priority's or so. And with only one week left the first semester has come to an end and i can enjoy the Christmas break with lots of sleep, going out and other things i couldn't do for the last 2 months! Counting the days!

LACOSTE SPRING 2014

When i saw the new Lacoste collection i was surprised and find it very refreshing. A call to nineties minimalism with a update of the classic tennis shirt is what Lacoste is all about this spring. However normally i'm not a sportswear fan for daily basis, this collection during NYFW felt way different. Soft fabrics in white and nude colors, clean silhouettes and a touch of sheer triggered me right away. And with my eyes on the oversized trench in the middle, which i just had to share, i say Yay! Lacoste!

CHANGE OF SEASON

As seasons change, so is my hair color. I have this strange compulsive thing for changing my hair color almost every season in another. I know, it damages my hair to the limit but i can't resist myself of changing it. I like to call myself a chameleon when it comes to hair.
I already tried dip dye, red like Ariel the mermaid, black, highlights, light brown/caramel, copper color ect.. I felt like it's time for something way different, and that is blonde. They say "Blondes have more fun" so that's worth a try.
I think the last moment i was blond, was in kindergarten, so that has been a while. And this is only a intermediate stage because eventually it is going to be grey but that was too much too handle for my hair right now.

P.S. Tomorrow is going to be the first day of a Claudia Strater design project!

FRESH START

Probably when you're reading this, i'm at the first day of a new school year again!

Remember when i showed you some close ups of what i've made for the summer assignment? Well, today we (my classmates and i) have to actually wear it to school, to show it to each other and the teachers. Kinda freaks me out to wear my own design and wearing it for a bunch of people.... Still excited though.

Preparing for first schooldays, i never know what to bring with me cause most of the time you'll get an introduction and information about the lessons and so on. At this very moment i've put this in my bag for surviving the first day;

1; A bag to put everything in.
2; iPhone.
3; Macbook Pro for research.
4; Ray Ban Clubmaster sunnies for when the sun decide to come out.
5; Lectra ProMarkers for Fashion Design class (in case needed).
6; School pass.
7; Because i have 29 other classmates, the headphones are a rescue.
8; Agenda.
9; My DIY pen case filled with everything i may be need.
10; Dummy for random thoughts and sketches.

Did i miss something? And how was your first day of school?

THREE OF A KIND

I personally think the hear, see and silence part is in this society today such an important aspect. Everything you say, everything you do, there will always be someone who criticize or disrespect what you're doing or you're opion. I've learned along the way it's better to keep silence than attack one another. That does not mean you don't speak out or so because in this society you have to have a voice, a identity, a personality to reach the success you want to archieve. But still be and stay true to yourself.

Conclusion: Do what you love and never let anyone tell you to do different.

DIY; PENCASE / CLUTCH / CASE FOR WHATEVER

Since i'm a chaotic person, i've lost every single pencil, pen, scissors ect. that i owned. I thought it would be necessary to make an pen case to hold them all together and never lose anything again. And since the new school year starts about 2 weeks, why not make one now?

I'm going to take you through it step by step so you can make your own!

FINISH LINE

As you can see in the post from yesterday, i finished it! I'm happy with the result how the fabric works as a short BUT it's not the most finest item i've made. The fabric is horrible to sew because it's a coarse woven material, it's almost impossible to lock the seam. Every seam i sew with the lockmachine (i don't know if you called it a lockmachine in English) but every time i did, the whole weave/fabric destroys itself! Luckily i knew how to fix it, so this is what came out.

As you can see i've made one piping pocket (also almost impossible in this fabric) and i've put elastic in the waistband.

On to the next project!

WRINKLED

Easy outfit for easy shopping. Went shopping with my dear friend Maxim yesterday. And i didn't think about the fact that with a thin cotton shirt, you get creases everywhere while even wearing it an for hour. So i walked around like i didn't ironed my shirt.... But hey, this happens to everybody right?

P.s. i bought something i thought i would never bought. But i'll show that later.
